About

An African perspective on global AI risk.

Reseni Labs is an independent research lab working at the intersection of privacy engineering, security research, and AI governance. We translate complex risk into clear, actionable insight — for the teams building AI, and for the people it affects.

Mission

Build AI that respects people. We investigate how AI systems collect, process, and expose data, and we publish practical frameworks that help organisations design, test, and deploy AI responsibly.

Why Nairobi

Kenya sits at the leading edge of African AI policy and regulation. Founding here lets us bring a perspective that is too often missing from a conversation otherwise dominated by Brussels, Washington, and the Bay.

Principles

  1. Publish openly. Research, methodologies, and disclosures are public by default under permissive licences.
  2. Minimise data. Do not collect what you do not need. Delete what you no longer need. Encrypt what you must keep.
  3. Adversarial by default. Assume your system will be attacked and prove otherwise with evidence.
  4. Standards before opinions. We anchor recommendations in NIST, ISO, OWASP, and the AI Act before invoking taste.
  5. Practice what we preach. This site enforces the controls we recommend to our clients.

Team

A small team of privacy engineers, security researchers, and policy specialists. We hire when the work calls for it. Get in touch if you want to collaborate, commission research, or join us.
